Tax season: CRA union members vote for a strike mandate

The members of the Union of Taxation Employees have voted by majority for a strike mandate in the middle of tax season which will be effective from April 14, 2023.

“While our priority is to reach an agreement at the bargaining table, we recognize the right of employees to participate in strike activity,” the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) said in a statement released Friday.

A meeting between the CRA and the Public Service Alliance of Canada – Union of Taxation Employees (PSAC-UTE) had already been announced for March 31 and should be held from April 17 to 20, in order to ” resume negotiations with the aim of concluding a new collective agreement,” added the federal agency.

“We are confident that during the upcoming negotiations, the parties will find many areas for possible compromises and exchanges, based on honest discussions and concessions on both sides”, can we also read .
