The tax increase should indeed take place, but who will be affected? Companies or individuals? The 8 p.m. eco column answers you.
As Prime Minister Michel Barnier announced, there will be an increase in taxes. Two avenues are being studied by the new government: increasing business taxes or personal taxes. But for now, the idea of freezing the income tax scale should not be validated. In addition to being unpopular, this solution mainly targets the middle classes, already reduced by the economic crisis.
Instead, the government would propose taxing the richest companies by setting the corporate tax rate at 33%, instead of the current 25%. A measure which would bring in nearly 8 billion euros in profits to France. As for a possibility of reestablishing the ISF (Wealth Solidarity Tax), the government remains against this idea.
