Tax fraud: a rental property owner pleads guilty

A Montrealer was fined nearly $80,000 for failing to declare all of his income from rental properties.

Shah Allam Mohammed Molla, 47, pleaded guilty to evading the payment of tax due on part of his income for the years 2019 and 2020 and received his sentence on December 13.

The man, who is co-owner of a dozen rental properties in Greater Montreal, received fines of $79,566.

“According to the investigation carried out by Revenu Québec, Mr. Molla made false declarations by subtracting nearly a quarter of a million dollars from his rental income. Thus, he evaded the payment of the tax in connection with this sum”, specified Revenue Quebec by way of press release.
