An animated holiday at the market

We won’t be bored between February 27 and March 3 at the Jean-Talon market! From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., every day, the event Long live school break! will grab the 2e floor of the building with a host of free activities. Budding cooks will be able to take part in special workshops every morning, and on Tuesday, February 28, in the afternoon, prepare a solidarity soup from the Tablée des chefs which will then be distributed to primary schools. Young people will also be invited, Thursday, March 2 in the afternoon, to a gardening workshop to learn about above-ground urban agriculture. Other cultural activities, as well as a big fair on Friday March 3, during which pop corn and hot chocolates will notably be part of this week, which will complete this busy week.

Spring rolls at Central

The Le Central gourmet hall, located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal, does not only welcome trendy students and foodies. Children aged three and over will also be featured in this place of indulgence, from Tuesday, February 28 to Thursday, March 2, when three workshops a day will be led by the organization C’est moi le chef! What will be on the menu? A classic of Vietnamese cuisine: spring rolls! An ideal opportunity, for 30 minutes, to get hands-on with one of your parents, and as a bonus the pride of stocking up on vegetables even if you are usually reluctant to do so. Please note that places are limited for these workshops. We advise you to book a skip-the-line ticket for priority access to the activity, which will be on a “first come, first served” basis.

To the cabin!

Young people love sugaring off, which is accompanied by gatherings in cabins offering meals and family activities of all kinds. So, it is good to know that as of March 3, Labonté de la pomme, located in Oka in the Lower Laurentians, will be open with several interesting formulas. For lovers of good food and picturesque decor, the traditional sugaring off meal, revisited in the style of this maple apple shack, is worth the trip with a dozen copious services. For families who can’t keep still, there is a hiking trail, and outdoor activities and tastings, including a full picnic, are also offered. It is even possible to opt for meal boxes to take away or have delivered. Enjoy your food !
