Electricity bills should fall for artisans and small businesses. A bill, presented to the Assembly on the morning of Thursday February 29, plans to regulate their prices.

Ouadi Jriri, a Parisian butcher, is worried: his electricity bill could rise with the end of the tariff shield. “We are in an uncertainty which does not even allow us to project ourselves”, he laments. In his butcher’s shop, refrigerator, oven and rotisserie are running at full speed. His bill exploded during the energy crisis, reaching 1,800 euros, twice as much as normal.

Extend the regulated rate to all small businesses

The prospect of a regulated rate reassures him. The law passed on the morning of Thursday February 29 in the National Assembly plans to extend the regulated rate to all small businesses. This concerns artisans, farmers and small towns with fewer than ten employees, with a turnover of less than 2 million euros per year. The objective is to limit their bills in the event of a crisis. One million businesses will be eligible for the regulated rate.
