(Montreal) Air Canada says an unauthorized group briefly hacked into an internal system linked to some employees’ personal information and records.
The airline said in a statement Wednesday that no customer information was accessed during the cyberattack.
The Montreal-based company says flight operations systems and public platforms have not been affected.
Air Canada says it contacted the people whose information was involved and informed the appropriate authorities.
With all systems now operating at full capacity, Air Canada said it has implemented new safety improvements to prevent future incidents.
The company is the latest victim in a never-ending series of cyberattacks that have hit Canadian companies, ranging from Suncor Energy to grocery giant Empire so far this year.
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada said it received a breach report from Air Canada and is reviewing it to determine next steps.
