A measurement “to deal with the emergency”. Tanker trucks will exceptionally be allowed to circulate on Sundays to respond to the strikes that have been causing fuel supply problems for several days in France, in particular at TotalEnergies, announced on LCI the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune, Friday, October 7.

“There are a number of measures to deal with the emergency (…) I will give the exceptional authorization during the day so that the tank trucks can also circulate on Sundays, which is not the case. usually”said the Minister, referring to “fairly localized but significant difficulties”.

The Minister also announced that he would bring together the transport federations on Friday morning, “to see locally where we can improve the supply”. “We are doing everything so that in the coming days this situation can be resolved” and the government is “in conjunction with Total to try to facilitate social dialogue”added Clément Beaune.

Currently, 15% of service stations are affected by a shortage of one or more fuels, according to a figure quoted by several ministers, mainly due to a strike for wages in TotalEnergies refineries, but also to the discount at the pump of 20 centimes granted since September 1 by the group, in addition to the State rebate.

“We must not panic (…) We are not about to run out of fuel”, assured on BFMTV the spokesman of the government, Olivier Véran. For its part, TotalEnergies did not report on the impact of the social conflict on its stations. The group simply told AFP on Thursday that the situation was “steady”.
