(Tampico) Montreal’s Eugenie Bouchard suffered a heartbreaking loss Tuesday against Mexico’s Renata Zarazua at the WTA 125 Series tournament in Tampico, Mexico.

The 28-year-old Canadian led 4-1 in the first set, but lost 7-5. She then bounced back with a convincing 6-1 victory in the second set, but gave up 7-5 in the third set, despite a fleeting lead over Zarazua.
Zarazua scored the only ace in the two hour and twenty minute match. Bouchard committed four double faults while his opponent committed none.
Montreal’s Leylah Fernandez will face American Elizabeth Mandlik later on Tuesday night.
