Tampa Bay Rays | Kevin Cash and Erik Neander contracts extended

(St. Petersburg, Fla.) The Tampa Bay Rays have awarded contract extensions to manager Kevin Cash and president of baseball operations Erik Neander.

The team confirmed this information on Thursday, without specifying the duration of each of them’s agreements.

Cash, who is 46, led the Rays to the playoffs the past five seasons, and they made the World Series in 2020 before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cash, who was voted the American League’s most valuable manager twice, replaced Joe Maddon in 2015 and is 739-617 in nine seasons at the helm of the Florida team.

Cash was set to enter the final year of his guaranteed contract, as an option year left at the club’s discretion was planned for 2025.

Neander, who is 40, joined the Rays in 2007. He was promoted to general manager in 2016, and became president of baseball operations five years later.

“I believe they are the best in baseball,” team majority owner Stuart Sternberg said in a statement. It’s remarkable what we’ve accomplished together, and the best is yet to come. »
