(Atlanta) Tom Brady broke his own record for the most passes completed in a season in the NFL on Sunday in the duel between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons.
Brady made sure to surpass his mark of 485, set in 2021, by completing nine passes early in the game.
Brady set the record on a five-yard pass to former Falcons receiver Russell Gage early in the second quarter. It was his ninth successful pass in 12 attempts in the game and his 486e of the season.
Brady played through another offensive streak before giving way to Blaine Gabbert late in the first half.
Brady finished his day with 13 completions on 17 attempts for 84 yards and a touchdown. He concludes his season with 490 completions.
The Buccaneers secured a first-place finish in the National Conference South last week with a 30-24 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s game, they couldn’t hope to finish higher than the fourth spot they currently hold in the team standings heading into the playoffs.
