(Tampa) Just two weeks after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was resuscitated on the field, another disturbing moment came before the general public on Monday night. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage left the field on a stretcher late in the fourth quarter of the opening round game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Buccaneers shared a statement Tuesday morning saying Gage was able to move his extremities, after suffering a neck injury and concussion. He will continue to take tests at the hospital, after spending the night there.
“I really hope he’s okay,” teammate Lavonte David said after the game. He was moving, so that’s a good sign. »
Gage was injured when he fell to the ground after taking a tackle from Donovan Wilson at neck height as he tried to catch a pass. He tried to get up, to no avail, pounding the ground with his hand in frustration.
Players from both teams took a knee and prayed as medical staff attended to Gage. Tom Brady, who had fired the pass to Gage, stood by him before the game restarted.
