TALK launches its cover of La Ziguezon: “To Quebecers, I want to say: I love you”

As promised when he released his first album Lord of the Flies & Birds & Beesthe Ontario rocker TALK released his cover of a classic of traditional music from here on Friday on the listening platforms, La Ziguezonand launched a vibrant call to discover Quebec culture.

For TALK, who sang the title of La Bottine Souriante during its appearance at the Summer Festival on the Plains of Abraham, it is a way of thanking Quebecers for their welcome.

“These last two years, Quebec has given me so much love, it has made me one of its own,” says Nicholas Durocher, aka TALK, in a press release.

“Nothing seemed more natural to me than to launch my own version of one of the French-speaking songs most dear to culture. To Quebecers, I want to say: I love you.”

“I hope,” he continues, “that everyone who hears this song for the first time, whether English-speaking or French-speaking, will find as much joy in it as I do. There is so much culture to discover in Quebec. I hope this song is your gateway to everything else.”

TALK rose to prominence with the success Run Away to Marslistened to 115 million times on Spotify, but it was his performances at the Summer Festival as the opening act for Luke Combs, in 2022, and Imagine Dragons, in 2023, which made him the new darling of Quebecers.

“It was in Quebec that I launched my career. This is where I have the most admirers,” he declared to Newspaperlast October.

TALK also opened for Shania Twain shows in Toronto, Quebec and Montreal this fall.
