Taliban accused of “summary executions” by the United States

(Washington) The United States and its Western allies on Saturday accused the Taliban regime of “summary executions” of former members of the Afghan security forces, exposed by human rights organizations.

“We are deeply concerned by reports of summary executions and enforced disappearances of former members of the Afghan security forces, as documented by Human Rights Watch and others,” said some 20 countries, including Britain and Japan, as well as the European Union in a statement issued by the US State Department.

These countries believe that these rights violations “contravene” the amnesty for ex-security forces announced by the Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan in August.
