“Taking off my makeup in the car…”, Jean-Jacques Goldman talks about his other job

More than two decades after turning his back on both the music scene and media life, Jean-Jacques Goldman is still one of the French people’s favorite personalities. A discreet star whose fans continue to keep the myth alive… But, against all odds, the interpreter of When the music is good is very far from leading the high life.

Remember, on August 2, 2023, Le Point was indeed interested in the “peaceful” existence of this retired artist between London and Marseille… And the least we can say is that Jean -Jacques Goldman loves the simple pleasures of life!

The reason ? Our colleagues affirmed that the artist chose to lead a discreet existence, focused above all on his children and grandchildren. “He always wanted to lead a normal life, he sees his 11 grandchildren, goes to all their birthdays, rents houses to reunite his family.confided to the weekly Jean Bender, a friend of the musician from the benches of the Parisian high school François-Villon.

A second cap

A simple lifestyle that recalls the start of his career. Our colleagues from Morning

have in fact released an archive of interviews in which Jean-Jacques Goldman revealed some information about his double life at the start of his career. And for good reason, at the beginning of the 80s, the latter was a singer, but also a trader in a sports store belonging to his parents located in Montrouge.

“My last pay slip dates back to December 1982. However, I had already released ‘It will suffice for a sign’, ‘When the music is good’ and ‘Comme toi'”, he remembered.

“Sometimes I would record the show ‘Champs-Elysées’, take off my makeup in the car and immediately return to my place at the store, my real job. Customers recognized me, but it wasn’t embarrassing”explained the now retired artist.
