This year, the 2022 edition will be marked by the presence of two big foreign teams, Movistar and UAE Team Emirates, the team of the double winner of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar. Pierrick Guesné, the president of the Boucles de la Mayenne, is delighted with this news: “we are going to achieve the objective that we had set ourselves, namely to welcome five World Tour teams. In addition to the three French (Groupama FDJ, Ag2r Citroën and Cofidis), there will be Movistar and therefore the very good news is the presence of Tadej Pogacar’s team, UAE Team Emirates. We’re going to get bigger. And if we have great headliners, it will shine the city of Laval and our department.“
So, will the Slovenian star be present in Mayenne? Unfortunately, there is very little chance, even if the winner of the time trial between Changé and Laval on the Tour last June has surely kept good memories of Mayenne. To prepare for the Tour de France, the riders are more used to taking part in the Critérium du Dauphiné which starts, this year, a week after the finish of the Boucles. There is also the Tour de Suisse, mid-June. But, according to our information, Pogacar will compete in the Tour of Slovenia, at home, from June 15 to 19. An event of which he is the title holder and which is classified in Pro Series, like the Loops.
In this UAE Team Emirates team, there is in particular the German sprinter Pascal Ackerman, the young Frenchman Alexys Brunel (ex Groupama FDJ), or even Georg Benett, the New Zealander specialist in stage races.
