Six climbs on a 211 km route. This is what awaits the riders for this eleventh stage of the Tour de France, Wednesday July 10, between Evaux-les-Bains (Creuse) and Le Lioran (Cantal). After a relatively calm start to the race and an intermediate sprint set at the 65th kilometer, the peloton will embark on the climb of the Côte de Mouilloux (1.9 km at 6.3%), followed by the Côte de Larodde (3.8 km at 6%). In the last 40 kilometers, they will have to tackle the Col de Néronne (3.8 km at 9.1%), the Puy Mary-Pas de Peyrol (5.4 km at 8.1%), but also the Col de Pertus (4.4 km at 7.9%), and finally the Col de Font de Cère (3.3 km at 5.8%).
Before this eleventh stage starting from Evaux-les-Bains, the Tour de France had not stopped in a Creuse town since finishing in Guéret in 2004. Conducive to breakaways, this route should inspire Romain Bardet – a local rider for the stage – and the climbers in the peloton. Thus, profiles like Alexey Lutsenko (Astana-Qazaqstan), Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech), or Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) will perhaps try to win alone. Favorite of this Tour de France and wearer of the yellow jersey since his victory in Valloire, during the 4th stage, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar will have to be wary of potential attacks to maintain his lead.
