Among the prisoners are a logistician and a man acting as an IS intermediary, he said in a statement.

The third was described as an “associate” of the jihadist group, according to the same source.

A civilian was lightly injured in the ground and helicopter assault, according to Centcom.

Since the defeat of the armed group IS in Syria in 2019, the Washington-led international coalition has regularly carried out operations against suspected members of the group.

Hundreds of American soldiers, deployed in northeast Syria as part of the anti-jihadist coalition, continue to fight with the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and target suspected members of the IS armed group.

In 2022, two other leaders of the group were killed, one in February, by American special forces in the northwest and the other in October, by former rebels from the province of Deraa (south) supported by the system of government.
