(Damascus) The Israeli Air Force on Saturday carried out a raid against regime positions in parts of central Syria, the Syrian news agency SANA said.

The agency did not say whether the raid resulted in casualties.
“The Israeli enemy carried out an air strike against Syrian positions” in several localities including that of Massyaf located in the central province of Hama, the agency said without providing details on the targets.
Syrian air defenses have been activated, she added.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), the Israeli air force targeted arms depots and research centers for the development of missiles and drones belonging to the Syrian regime in three localities in the Hama province.
Several explosions were heard in these areas, added the NGO, which has an extensive network of sources in the war-torn country. She did not report any casualties.
According to the NGO, Iranian militias as well as the Lebanese Hezbollah are present in the three targeted sectors controlled by the regime.
Iran and Hezbollah, which militarily aid the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad, are the sworn enemies of Israel, a neighboring country of Syria and Lebanon.
According to SANA, the Israeli planes fired their missiles while they were over northern Lebanese territory, bordering Syria.
Since the start of the war in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in its neighbor, targeting positions of the Syrian army, Iranian forces and pro-Iranian Hezbollah.
The Jewish state rarely comments on its strikes against Syria, but says it will not allow Iran to expand its influence in Syria.
Triggered by the repression of pro-democracy demonstrations, the war in Syria has claimed around 500,000 lives, devastated the country’s infrastructure and displaced millions of people.
