Cult television series on the small screen, Symphorian will be the subject of a theatrical adaptation that will come to life on the stage of the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne on June 29.
After his residency, the play, directed by Pierre Séguin and Louis Saïa, will travel to Quebec until January 2023.
The Quebec series, which ran from 1970 to 1977, made its name from its mythical characters, soon reunited on stage for new adventures. Symphorien, the endearing concierge and father of 14 children; Ephrem, his stupid brother; the eternal romantic, Mademoiselle L’Espérance; the charming doctor Jetté and of course, Madame Sylvain and her rooming house, which houses all these beautiful people.
The actors Nathalie Malette, Martin Héroux, Michelle Labonté, Patrice Coquereau, Marie-Ève Morency and Stéphan Côté will share the secondary roles, while Symphorien, played by Gilles Latulippe in the original work, will be played by François Chénier.
Co-produced by ComediHa! and Productions Martin Leclerc, the play was written by Pierre Huet and Louis Saïa.
