“Here is the dress we designed for the Miss France ceremony. Do you like it? 100% French talent”this is what Sylvie Tellier wrote on her Instagram account, a few hours before the start of the Miss France 2024 election. For her big return to the competition, but this time as president of the jury, the former boss of the Miss wanted to pay tribute to the one who preceded her in this role, Geneviève de Fontenay, who died in August 2023, and to whom the evening was dedicated.
“Honor the memory of Geneviève de Fontenay”
And not everyone found that this mermaid dress, which only used the white and black of her great rival’s uniform, was the best way to pay tribute to her… Also on the Web, Sylvie Tellier shared a note to the fashion designer Nicolas Fafiotte, and declared to him: “My friend Nicolas, thank you for agreeing to make me this black and white dress and thus being able to honor the memory of Geneviève de Fontenay.”
There was no shortage of malicious comments on this publication. Some felt that Sylvie Tellier took up too much space during this election: “You should have stayed in your place during the tribute to Madame de Fontenay, it’s a shame your behavior was disappointing”others also denounced a “total lack of respect” or worse “cheek“, since no one is unaware of the conflicting relationships that existed between the two women.
Now in charge of new projects, Sylvie Tellier did not let herself be carried away by the controversy. After the disappearance of the lady with the hat, she praised her work and the colossal legacy she left to Miss France.
“A new little sister in the Miss France family“
At the end of her message, Sylvie Tellier turned to her colleagues and greeted: “During this evening, I met some extraordinary women and celebrated the arrival of a new little sister in the Miss France family. To you, the public, thank you for welcoming her kindly”. A nod to the lovely Eve Gilles, whose evening it was also a bit, this December 16, 2023.
