(Indianapolis) Katie Ledecky set a world record with a time of 7:57.42 in the 800m at the Swimming World Cup on Saturday.

The mark of 7 min 59.34 s of the Spaniard Mireia Belmonte held since 2013.
Indianapolis is one of three FINA World Cup stops. The previous two stops were in Berlin and Toronto.
The 25-year-old Ledecky beat 16-year-old Torontonian Summer McIntosh (8:07.12) by nearly 10 seconds. American Leah Smith completed the podium (8 min 12.01 s).
Ledecky has seven Olympic gold medals and 19 world championship gold medals.
In both cases, it is a record for a swimmer.
