Saturday, May 13, in Liverpool (United Kingdom), Sweden won Eurovision for the seventh time in its history. For its part, France finished in a disappointing 16th place.

Four hours of show, and a Swedish triumph. Saturday May 13, Loreen offered the trophy to her country, with the title “Tatoo”. “It’s crazy, it’s surreal, I’m so happy, full of gratitude”said the winner of Eurovision 2023, who had already won the event in 2012. Sweden is none other than the queen of Eurovision, with a seventh trophy to its credit, including the title “Waterloo” by Abba. The tube that has become global will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

A controversial gesture

The 2024 edition will therefore be organized in Stockholm (Sweden) and not in France. Because, on Saturday evening, La Zarra finished in 16th place. A little later in the evening, it pitches in the Quebec candidate. At the distribution of points, a gesture caused controversy on social networks. La Zarra seems to have given the middle finger. She explained herself at the end of the show: “It’s just a gesture of disappointment, which we use between friends”, she justified herself. Eurovision also paid tribute to Ukraine, with the Liverpool anthem “You will never walk alone”.
