Sutton | Young passenger fights for his life after swerving

(Sutton) A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being involved in an accident in Sutton, in Estrie.


He was the passenger in a vehicle that left the road shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday on Mountain Street.

“There were four occupants in the vehicle and one of them, a 17-year-old passenger who was seriously injured, was transported to a hospital. We would fear for our lives,” said Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The other three people suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle will, however, face justice.

“The driver of the vehicle, also aged 17, was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol. He was released by summons to appear,” said Sergeant St-Pierre.

In the meantime, the SQ investigation continues.

“We have a reconstructionist from the Sûreté du Québec who went to the scene to analyze the collision scene. The road which was closed at that time was reopened this morning to traffic,” said the SQ spokesperson.

Speed ​​could also have played a role in this swerve, which the SQ investigation will have to confirm.
