The Montreal Alouettes have added four new faces to their coaching staff for the upcoming Canadian Football League campaign on Tuesday morning.
Former player Tyrell Sutton will return to the nest and lead the running backs, as will Chandler Jones, who has been named assistant defensive backs coach, and Corvey Irvin, who will lead the defensive line.
Additionally, Dave Jackson was named assistant special teams coach.
Sutton wore the Alouettes jersey from 2013 to 2018 and was elected to the CFL All-Star team in 2015. More recently, he was a volunteer coach with the Phénix du Collège André-Grasset during the off-season. .
For his part, Irvin is also returning home, after playing for the Birds in 2014 and 2015.
Jones, meanwhile, is returning to the city after a stint on the Alouettes’ practice squad in 2015.
The Alouettes took the opportunity to confirm the returns of Byron Archambault (assistant head coach and special teams coordinator), Anthony Calvillo (offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach), Noel Thorpe (defensive coordinator and running backs coach defensive lines), Luc Brodeur-Jourdain (offensive line coach), Michael Lionello (air attack coordinator and receivers coach) and Greg Quick (linebackers coach).
In addition, Allyson Sobol has been appointed head of football operations. She has worked in Alouettes administration and community relations for the past few years.
