(Montreal) The Montreal police have opened an investigation into a suspicious fire that occurred in an opulent residential area in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, in the west of the island of Montreal.

Emergency services received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. Saturday about a vehicle on fire in the private entrance of a residence on rue Malard, near rue Alouette.
“Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department brought the fire under control, which caused significant damage to the vehicle. Only one vehicle was reportedly damaged. A container, with possible accelerants, would have been found on the spot. The investigation was therefore transferred to the Arson Section (SIC) of the SPVM,” said Constable Véronique Comtois, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
It was not immediately known who was targeted by this crime or why. Fortunately, the damage was limited to the vehicle and no one was injured.
“The vehicle will be towed for expertise,” said officer Comtois.
The SPVM investigation is continuing.
