The body of a young man was found Wednesday evening in a home in Lachine, in the southwest of Montreal. The police have opened an investigation and consider the case as a suspicious death.
It was around 5:30 p.m. that the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) reported having been called to an apartment on avenue Duranceau, near rue des Érables, after a call made to 911.
On site, the police, assisted by ambulance technicians, located a man who had suffered serious upper body injuries.
The victim in his twenties was pronounced dead on site. “At this time, the cause of death remains unknown,” said agent Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the SPVM, in the evening.
A large security perimeter was erected to protect the scene. Potential auditory or visual witnesses had to be met. Police say they could also view video tapes from nearby surveillance cameras to trace the sequence of events.
No suspects had been arrested Wednesday evening in connection with this case. Several investigators will comb the scene in order to clarify the causes and circumstances of the event.
