In the midst of war and air raids, an unexpected oasis arises: the cinema.

A movie theater in a Ukrainian city, at least what’s left of it. A missile sent by the Russians destroyed everything: fortunately, there were no spectators. “Because of the huge fire, firefighters came and put out the fire but it was too late”, explains the goalkeeper. Other rooms are still standing. And despite the dangers, Ukrainians are starting to go to cinemas again. Young women send a selfie to their fiancés who are fighting on the front lines. “If we don’t do normal life things, we’re all going to go crazy”testifies one of them.

The cinema is slowing down

The studios are almost at a standstill. Ukrainian cinema is on borrowed time and some of its actors, even famous ones, now wear fatigues. A true star in his country, Oleg Shulga works in the greatest secrecy with a reconnaissance brigade. Saturday, May 27, in a hospital setting, the third part of a series was to be shot but too many Russian drones attacked kyiv during the night. The first two episodes tell the daily life of civilians who remained in Ukraine despite the war.
