Suspected of four murders | The SPVM arrests an alleged murderer

A teenager could have committed four murders in one year: the police on Tuesday caught a young criminal and his accomplice, suspected of having killed a woman and her grandmother in 2022. At the time of his arrest , one of the suspects was already incarcerated in connection with another double homicide.




Jade Racette Beaulieu, 22, and her grandmother Huguette Maranda Racette, 73, were shot and killed in December 2022. They were the 37e and 38e homicides of the year. The metropolis was facing an outbreak of armed violence.

An individual fired a gun after entering an apartment in a building on Mullins Street, in the Pointe-Saint-Charles district of Montreal.

Accused of another double murder

At the dawn of adulthood, he could have four murders to his name: one of the suspects in this case, aged 18, was already behind bars at the time of his arrest. He is currently being held for another double murder that occurred in Montreal West in July 2022, a few months before the grandmother and her granddaughter were shot. Two young men aged 17 and 18 were shot while driving.

The young suspect, aged 17 at the time, was arrested in Toronto.

We cannot reveal his identity since he was a minor at the time of the incident. He was arrested Tuesday by investigators at Bordeaux prison, Montreal police confirmed in a press release.

He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday to face new charges of first-degree murder, according to authorities.

His alleged accomplice, a 23-year-old man, will appear the same day at the Montreal courthouse.

It was the Major Crimes Section of the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) which arrested the two suspects in the double murder of December 2022.

Three shootings in three hours

The events of armed violence in Montreal West that occurred during the summer left two dead and two injured, in addition to shaking citizens’ feeling of security.

Around 2 a.m., two people in a vehicle were targeted while driving at the corner of Ronald Drive and Avon Road. The driver, hit in the upper body, succumbed to his injuries. The passenger died in hospital. They were two men aged 19 and 17, unknown to the police according to our information at the time.

Three shootings – unrelated to each other – had also broken out in the space of three hours on the night of July 28, 2022.
