Suspected of domestic violence, Mathias Vicherat announces his resignation from his position as director of Sciences Po Paris

In an internal message, he explains that he made this decision after learning of his referral to a criminal court in a case of domestic violence.

Mathias Vicherat throws in the towel. Recently heard by the police in a case of domestic violencethe director of Sciences Po ParisAnnounces his resignation on Wednesday March 13. “I learned that my ex-partner and I were referred to the criminal courthe wrote in an email sent internally, which Franceinfo was able to consult. This is the conclusion of an investigation, conducted by the police station of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, without any complaint, from either side, ever being filed.”

“As director of Sciences Po (…), it is less my person than the institution that matters to me, which is why I decided, in order to preserve it, to resign from my position as director of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris and administrator of the National Foundation of Political Sciences”he assures.

In his message, Mathias Vicherat “still contests the accusations of violence that were made and disseminated”. And to conclude: “Sciences Po is an admirable institution. It has been a great honor and an unparalleled joy to work with all of you to ensure its development.”
