Frédéric Laberge, 49, faces charges of death threat, assault with a weapon, and mischief after attacking a volunteer from the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ).

The stabbing occurred late in the evening of August 27 in Rosemont, according to a party press release denouncing these actions and another assault against a volunteer which allegedly occurred in Sept-Îles, on the North Shore. . Both incidents are said to have occurred during the putting up of signs.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) indicated that Mr. Laberge was released on a promise to appear on October 27. There were no injuries during the altercation.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has still not confirmed whether there had been a complaint or an arrest in connection with the second event.
The leader of the PCQ, Éric Duhaime, had appealed for calm following these attacks and death threats against the liberal candidate Marwah Rizqy.
On Saturday, Mr. Duhaime described as “particularly irresponsible” the publication in one of the Montreal Journal of an image of his residence for a report on unpaid taxes.
“I can tell you this morning when I got up, to see my house on the front page, I didn’t like it,” he said, recalling that “this election campaign was marked a lot by questions security”, including assaults on its volunteers.
