Sacramento police announced on Monday April 4 that they had arrested a first suspect after the shooting that left six dead and 12 injured in the Californian capital. This 26 year old man “was arrested for assault and unlawful possession of a firearm”she said in a statement, adding that she searched three residences as part of her investigation.
The police had previously announced that several shooters were involved in the shooting and that a stolen handgun had been found. But the investigators did not specify the circumstances in which this violence broke out, in particular if the shootings targeted individuals in particular or if the perpetrators had opened fire at random.
The tragedy occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in downtown Sacramento. A video circulating on social media appears to show a fight in the street involving several people, followed by a series of detonations and individuals running. At the scene, investigators found “more than a hundred casings” and “at least three buildings and three vehicles hit by gunfire”said the police in its press release.
