In the neighborhood, few saw or heard them, but the police did intervene in towers in Nîmes (Gard) on the night of Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 August. They arrested the main suspect spotted on Saturday on surveillance videos where he was ostentatiously wearing a keffiyeh, a Palestinian flag and, on his belt, what appeared to be a firearm. The arrest was eventful, the suspect attacked the police using a weapon loaded with blanks.
The man had hidden in a neighboring department where the attack took place, Gard, in one of the three towers of the Pissevin district in Nîmes. Everyone is certain that a tragedy was narrowly avoided, the suspect would have made a mistake in the times of religious services. The suspect, still in hospital, has not yet been questioned. Three other people have also been taken into custody.
