Marlène Schiappa was the guest of franceinfo on Tuesday March 8. The Minister Delegate for Citizenship announced the launch of a support platform for Ukrainian refugees and returned to the subject of gender equality on this International Women’s Day.

War in Ukraine: creation of a platform for refugees

“It’s a refugee sponsorship system,” explained the Minister of Citizenship about the creation on Tuesday of a platform called “I am committed to Ukraine”. This platform is accessible at the following address: parrainage.refugees.info. It is intended to organize the reception of refugees as hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians flee their country due to the Russian invasion.

“You are a French family, you have the possibility of welcoming a Ukrainian family into your home, you can register on this platform”said Marlène Schiappa, welcoming “the surge of immense generosity” of the French “vis-à-vis the Ukrainians”.

Gender equality: “The government cannot do everything, on its own”

“We do not solve in five years problems that started for generations”defended Marlène Schiappa about the record of Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term in terms of gender equality. “The government is at the forefront on this subject but cannot do everything, on its own”, argues the minister. On the wage gaps for equal positions that persist between women and men in companies, she considers that these are gaps “unjustifiable and inexplicable” and who are “due to the misogyny of society”.
