Supervive is a fast-paced hero shooter available for free on PC via Steam, featuring no Pay To Win elements. It blends MOBA and Battle Royale mechanics with diverse characters and roles. Players navigate a vast map, collect resources, and engage in PvE battles while facing rival teams. Various game modes cater to different player preferences, with matches lasting 15 to 25 minutes. The game emphasizes exploration, strategic combat, and teamwork, promising an engaging experience in its open beta.
Supervive is now available as a free-to-play title on PC through Steam, featuring no Pay To Win mechanics. Instead, it offers optional cosmetic items for purchase and a battle pass. In this preview, we revisited several hours of the official version.
Emphasizing Positive Gameplay
Supervive can be described as a fast-paced hero shooter with a MOBA-style perspective. The movement mechanics lean more towards a Battle Royale style, featuring moments of escape, cover, and tactical flanking. Unlike the more rigid encounters typical in MOBAs like League of Legends, Supervive retains the MOBA essence through its diverse playable characters and their combat abilities. Each character is assigned a role, equipped with unique skills and characteristics that set them apart.
The game showcases a variety of profiles among its fifteen heroes available in the open beta, going beyond the conventional DPS/Tank/Healer roles. While DPS characters are predominant, there is a notable distinction between ranged and melee fighters. Players will find a wealth of information to absorb, whether through character mechanics, equipment, consumables, or the PvE elements scattered throughout the map.
For newcomers, the learning curve can feel steep due to the lack of guidance during matches. However, this challenge is integral to the game’s strategic depth. The pacing may occasionally seem slow, and the repetitive nature of resource collection might not be appealing to every player.
The good news is that players can take their time to adapt by participating in multiple matches and gradually acquiring skills. If managing equipment seems daunting, players can opt for game-suggested items. Interestingly, the fast-paced action minimizes time for negative interactions, meaning players are often too engaged to type insults in chat. From our experience, voice chat remained either muted or polite.
Understanding Match Dynamics
Upon selecting your “hunter,” you’ll pick a landing spot on an expansive map filled with floating islands. The goal is to gather equipment and experience through PvE encounters. The map features various points of interest, each offering distinct rewards. Opting for a loot-rich zone often attracts rival teams, while a more cautious approach may benefit less experienced team compositions.
Following the classic Battle Royale format, players can find armor of varying rarities, items for offense and support, and upgrades for their equipment. A lethal storm also gradually compresses the map, compelling players to converge into a final zone. Optional bosses scattered throughout the map provide enticing rewards, but the risk of enemy interference increases with the boss’s power. This unpredictability adds to the thrill of Supervive.
One highlight from our previous playthrough was the glider mechanics that allow movement between islands. Any damage taken while gliding can lead to instant death from falling, making both escaping and pursuing enemies incredibly exhilarating. While Supervive diligently incorporates community feedback for game balance, some scenarios can remain convoluted, especially during multi-team confrontations. The game demands advanced teamwork at higher levels, which may pose a challenge when playing with unfamiliar teammates. However, the experience can be fantastic when paired with the right group.
Variety of Game Modes
A standout feature of Supervive is its range of modes tailored to fit players’ schedules. Currently, the game offers the following modes:
- Squads: The main game mode where teams consist of 4 players, culminating in 10 teams per match (40 players total).
- Duos: Similar to Squads, but with two-player teams.
- Arena: A 4 vs 4 mode where two teams engage in up to 5 rounds. Each round is time-limited, requiring teams to capture objectives or eliminate the opposing team to win.
- Training: A mode designed for players to familiarize themselves with the hunters and their abilities.
Matches generally last between 15 and 25 minutes, especially if players reach the final rounds. This duration allows for quick gaming sessions, alleviating the frustration of losses and enabling players to transition swiftly to other activities. Naturally, the atmosphere shifts in ranked matches, catering to both competitive players and those looking for a more relaxed experience.
In conclusion, this open beta of Supervive reinforces the positive impressions we gathered earlier. The game masterfully combines exploration, strategic combat, and rapid decision-making, filling a niche left by popular titles like Battlerite. We eagerly await the final version of the game.
