Once again, the designers have worked hard to craft the commercial that everyone will be talking about during the Super Bowl. The price of a 30 second advertisement, for this 57e final, was set at US$7 million (C$9.4 million). This is an increase of $500,000 (C$671,000) compared to last year. Some excerpts and some ads are already online. Here are 10 commercials to watch, on FOX and CTV, during the showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow.
A new flavor of Bubly
Michael Bublé will be at the heart of a Canadian ad for Bubly sparkling water. The singer from British Columbia will be seen touring the country and surprising fans with the 10 flavors available, including the new Raspberry Bubly. Michael Bublé will cross Canada, from Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver to Mount Royal in Montreal.
Sarah McLachlan
Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan will appear in a commercial titled Shelter for Busch Light beer. She will deliver a message on the importance of setting up shelters for animals, under the dumbfounded gaze of the “Bush Guy”, who addresses the essentials for survival in nature. We will hear her, in a tent, accompanied by a wolf, singing a few bars of her song Angel.
Dave Grohl and whiskey
Ex-Nirvana Dave Grohl will be in a Crown Royal whiskey ad. In the two excerpts broadcast from this ad, we can see the singer-guitarist of the Foo Fighters reading, in the studio, a series of disparate items and saying: ” thank you in several ways at the microphone. We will know more about this mysterious advertisement during the third quarter.
A very practical mayo
Actors Jon Hamm and Brie Larson will be trapped in a fridge in a Hellmann’s mayonnaise commercial. This commercial, which will be shown in the third quarter, aims to encourage creativity, with the famous mayo, to give new life to food that was not consumed at Super Bowl parties. This day is the second largest in terms of food waste.
A well-done for the mascot of Planters
The American comedian Jeff Ross, who has spent several celebrities in the wringer during his well-cooked, will suffer the same fate to Mr. Peanut, the mascot of Planters products, by sending him to be roasted in the oven. Viewers will be invited to upload their way of grilling Mr. Peanut on social media for a chance to win $10,000.
Serena Williams golfing
Serena Williams will swap tennis rackets for golf clubs in a Michelob Ultra beer commercial. We can see her, with Scottish actor Brian Cox, from the series Successionin an advertisement inspired by the cult film Caddyshack. It will also be found in an advertisement for Rémy Martin cognac. Michelob Ultra, in another commercial featuring golfer Rickie Fowler, analyst and ex-quarterback Tony Romo and soccer player Alex Morgan, will promote the series full-swing (Champion course) that we can see, from February 15 on Netflix.
Will Ferrell and GM
Will Ferrell will star in commercials for automaker GM’s electric vehicles. We will find the American actor in ads that have been produced by
Netflix. We have seen, in the extracts unveiled, nods to the series The Walking Dead And Squid Game.
Ozzy in a tie
In this advertisement from the software company Workday, in a first appearance at the Super Bowl, we can see the singer Ozzy Osborne, the Prince of Darkness, in shirt and tie, employee of a new technology company. There will also be Paul Stanley of Kiss, Gary Clark Jr, Joan Jett and Billy Idol who no longer want to be treated like rock stars.
A $10 million field goal
Former tight end Rob Gronkowski, who took several passes from Tom Brady, will try, in the third quarter, to succeed, live, a 25-yard precision kick. If he succeeds, people who bet on the Super Bowl game, on the FanDuel portal, will share $10 million in free bets. This will be FanDuel’s first Super Bowl appearance.
The return of the duo breaking Bad
The duo Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, from the series breaking Bad, played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, will return for an advertisement for Frito-Lay’s PopCorners potato chips. The duo will star in a scene inspired by the episode 4 Days Out and written by Vince Gilligan, creator of the series.
