The 49ers of San Francisco will practice as scheduled at the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus despite concerns about the quality of the field reported Monday.
According to an Associated Press source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the club told the NFL that the field was too soft.
Natural grass was recently laid over the synthetic surface of the pitch in anticipation of the arrival of the 49ers.
“We’re not worried at all,” said the 49’s head coachers Kyle Shanahan, who added that the field has continued to improve since the team first had access to it last week.
” It’s like that. We are here and we will not change anything. »
Circuit commissioner Roger Goodell indicated earlier in the day that the field had been deemed safe by independent inspectors.
“We had 23 experts on site. We had the union there. They all think it’s a very playable surface, he said during his Super Bowl press conference.
“It’s softer than the one they train on [habituellement], but it happens. This fully complies with all our standards. All our experts and independent inspectors unanimously said it was a playable field. »
The 49ers will begin training on Wednesday.
The Kansas City Chiefs, who have been designated as the home team for the game, are training at the Las Vegas Raiders’ facility in Henderson.
