Sunny weather, but colder on Thursday

After the ice storm, Quebecers will be entitled to a respite with generally sunny weather, before the return of snow on Friday, but with a lower mercury.

Environment Canada is therefore predicting sunny weather for most of the province, with an episode of extreme cold for the northern and western sectors where cold temperatures combined with strong winds will plunge the mercury to -38 degrees, Thursday morning .

For Montreal and the areas of the St. Lawrence River valley, generally sunny weather is also expected and temperatures of -11 to -9 degrees, or even -16 in the morning in places due to wind chill.

In Estrie, Beauce and Quebec, the sun will be there with practically the same temperatures, but it will be much colder in the more northern areas, such as the Saguenay with a mercury of -16 degrees, according to forecasts from the federal agency.

In the eastern part of the province, the federal agency predicts less sunshine and a few snow showers and blowing snow ending at noon for certain sectors of the Bas-Saint-Laurent with temperatures below normal for the season.
