Antonio Catalfo had the idea for Tournesol during confinement, when he was surrounded by dozens of compulsively bought plants. Videoconferencing is everywhere, for work or to meet with friends. So why not for plants? “Tournesol is a video consultation solution with botanists who respond to people a bit like you and me who need advice on plants”, Explain Antonio Catalfo
But that’s not all. Antonio Catalfo is an insurance broker. He therefore wants to offer a tool that goes beyond simple video consultation.“The idea that came out of this is to say that all the plants that are accompanied by our botanists are covered by a guarantee. A guarantee for the prescription of care that botanists could do for these plants, and a guarantee in case of death of the plant when despite all your efforts, you have not succeeded in saving it”, continues Antonio Catalfo. For less than ten euros per month, we are therefore fully covered. We had to find an insurer who agreed to cover the plants, even though there were no statistics on the matter.
The market is huge: 28 million people bought plants in 2020, or three plants per person.
