Avalanche win 4-3 over Coyotes
Valeri Nichushkin scored the only goal of the shootout in the seventh round on Sunday as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-3.
Nichushkin had scored from the lead in the third period, before Clayton Keller’s equalizer.
The Avalanche sit second in the Central Division, one point behind the Minnesota Wild. The Rockies club has a game in hand.
Mikko Rantanen and Bowen Byram were the other scorers for Colorado.
Alexandar Georgiev made 27 saves. He faltered against Keller, Matias Maccelli and Christian Fischer.
Artturi Lehkonen of the Avalanche missed the game with an upper body injury.
The Coyotes will host the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.
