Rangers win against the Islanders

Jonny Brodzinski gave the New York Rangers the lead in the second period to lead his team to a 5-2 victory against the Islanders on Sunday.

The Rangers scored three times in the second period to erase a one-goal deficit and take a 3-2 lead.

Mika Zibanejad, Will Cuylle, Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafrenière also moved the ropes for the Rangers, who have won five of their last six games. Igor Shesterkin finished his working day with 25 saves.

Lafrenière matched his personal mark with 19 goals.

Bo Horvat scored twice and Ilya Sorokin made 26 saves in the Islanders’ fourth straight loss.

Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren left the game in the second period after contact with Quebecer Jean-Gabriel Pageau behind Shesterkin. He was unable to put weight on his left leg and did not return to the game.
