Lightning crushes Flyers 7-1

Corey Perry scored two goals and had an assist and Ryan McDonagh scored one goal and had two assists to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 7-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night.

Mathieu Joseph, Taylor Raddysh, Boris Katchouk and Pat Maroon also scored for the Lightning, who claimed their third straight win and a ninth game in their last 12.

Victor Hedman had three assists to bring his assist total to 21. Brian Elliott, the Lightning goaltender who played the previous four seasons with the Flyers, made 38 saves.

Cam Atkinson scored for the Flyers, who have lost eight straight games. Philadelphia is two losses away from matching the club’s record of 10 straight losses. Carter Hart made 10 saves before being replaced by Martin Jones, who also made 10 saves.

The Flyers’ slippage began when Tampa Bay traveled to Philadelphia on Nov. 18 and beat them in a 4-3 shootout.

Sunday’s game was the last of the season between the two teams.

The Flyers have averaged 2.4 goals per game since the start of the season, placing them 27th in the NHL. They haven’t scored more than three goals since October 27, an 18-game streak.

Blue Jackets defeat Sharks 6-4

Adam Boqvist scored twice and the Columbus Blue Jackets resisted an attempt to come up from the San Jose Sharks to win 6-4 on Sunday night.

Sean Kuraly, Cole Sillinger, Jack Roslovic and Alexandre Texier also threaded the needle for the Blue Jackets, who ended a four-game losing streak.

Andrew Peeke prepared two goals as Elvis Merzlikins stopped 30 shots for the Columbus Troop, who won their fourth straight home game.

Nick Bonino, Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns and Tomas Hertl responded for the Sharks, who suffered a second loss in a row.

Matt Nieto and Timo Meier both had two assists for the Sharks. Adin Hill turned back 24 pucks in a losing cause.

The two teams were tied 3-3 after 40 minutes, but the Blue Jackets quickly took the lead. Roslovic first beat Hill in the second minute and Boqvist increased the score to 5-3 by completing Gabriel Carlsson’s maneuver.
