Oilers shut out Penguins

After seeing his 13-game point streak end the day before, Connor McDavid scored a goal and added two assists and the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 on Sunday.

Darnell Nurse hit a double in the victory. Mattias Ekholm was the other scorer for the Oilers and added an assist.

Calvin Pickard stopped 41 pucks for the Oilers, but because he left the game for 73 seconds due to concussion protocol, he will not be credited with the shutout. In relief, Stuart Skinner did not need to make a single save.

Tristan Jarry stopped 38 pucks in front of the Penguins cage, who suffered a third consecutive defeat. They were shut out in back-to-back home games for the first time since 2004.

McDavid has three goals and 32 points in his last 15 games.

The Oilers captain also totaled nine goals and 27 points in 13 duels against Sidney Crosby. The Penguins captain was limited to three goals and seven points when playing against McDavid.
