Read the game reports from Sunday, December 17 in the NHL.

Brock Boeser, Ilya Mikheyev and Dakota Joshua scored in the second period and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Sunday.

Elias Pettersson also found the back of the net for the Canucks, who rallied after a slow start and a 2-1 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. JT Miller and Tyler Myers had two assists, then Thatcher Demko had 25 saves.

The Canucks improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight meetings. They had just one shot on goal in the first 10 minutes of the first period, but took control of the game in the second and held on until the end.

Nick Foligno scored two goals for the Blackhawks and Connor Bedard had two goals. Cole Guttman scored the final goal, in the third. Petr Mrazek blocked 23 pucks.

Sitting in last place in the overall NHL standings, the Blackhawks lost a fourth straight game and have won only four of their last 18 games.

Foligno gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead when he took advantage of a rebound during a power play 35 seconds into the second. It was his sixth goal of the campaign.

The Canucks then took the lead when Joshua and Boeser scored 41 seconds apart. Joshua redirected a Conor Garland shot and Boeser deceived Mrazek with a wrist shot.

It was the 10the Boeser’s goal in his last 11 games. Its 23e net allowed him to join Auston Matthews at the top of the NHL scorers.

Mikheyev made it 4-2 by deflecting a Myers shot for his 10e of the season.

The Blackhawks cut the lead to one goal through Guttman in the third, but were unable to tie the game.

The Blackhawks had to play without three of their defensemen, Seth Jones, Kevin Korchinski and Alex Vlasic.
