Sunday in politics: “the Constitution provides that it is the Prime Minister who leads the nation”, assures Jean-Luc Mélenchon

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, at the head of the New Popular, Economic and Social Union (Nudes)was the guest of Francis Letellier in “Sunday in politics”, Sunday May 8. He wants the election of one majority of deputies Nudesin order to be eligible for the post of Prime Minister. He knows in advance that cohabitation with Emmanuel Macron would not be easy. “He is a voluntary character, I am one myself, but it will be necessary to stick to the Constitution, since it is it which applies, and the Constitution provides that it is the Prime Minister who leads the policy of the nation, not the President of the Republic”explains Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“The minimum wage must be increased”, assures Jean-Luc Mélenchon. The proposal of the Nudes was to go up the minimum wage to 1,400 euros, but since the minimum wage has already increased, it will be increased by 15%, to reach 1,500 euros. For European issues, Jean-Luc Mélenchon says he is “against any enlargement, as long as we have not achieved social harmonisation”. He takes the example of the Ukrainian minimum wage, which is 180 euros and which would encourage social dumping.
