Summer outside | On to the games!

Once the guests are satisfied, it’s time to play. With family or friends, here are some suggestions for activities to have fun at the park.

Whether filled with gummies, lollipops, chocolate, gummies, hard candy or even toys, piñatas are always popular with kids. Easy to hang from the branch of a tree, they are a delight for the little ones and, let’s face it, the older ones.

Molkky

The outdoor game par excellence in recent years? “Le Mölkky”, answers Rachael Hardies, manager of the Montreal boutique Le Valet d’Cœur. “It’s furious. This game is reminiscent of both bowling and pétanque. With the help of a cylindrical piece of wood, the players, in turn, must knock down pins numbered from 1 to 12. The first to reach 50 points wins the game. A perfect game for all ages.

Another very popular outdoor game: Spikeball. Two teams compete around a small trampoline on which they must bounce a ball. Each team is allowed a maximum of three contacts with the ball before having to return it to their opponents via the trampoline. Does the ball fall to the ground or hit the net more than once? The opposing team scores a point. To win this game, which is reminiscent of ping-pong, volleyball and racquetball, players must accumulate 21 points. A version for children was recently published.

JustOne

What words would you use to make your friend guess the word “butterfly”? Monarch? Knot? Wings? These are all good answers. However, in the cooperative game JustOne, if two players offer the same clue, it is erased and never reaches the ears of the person who must find the word. “It’s super funny because we’re all thinking the same thing. We say to ourselves: “That’s a good clue, but I think that the others will also think about it, so I’m taking a less good clue,” says Rachael Hardies. Results ? The best clues are often overlooked. “It’s very funny as a game,” she promises.

Agent Trouble — Time Travel

Agent Trouble — Time Travel is another board game with very few materials, so ideal around a picnic table. At the start of the round, each player receives a card representing an era. All have the same card, except one person: it is the spy. By asking questions to his adversaries, we must succeed in unmasking this traitor. But beware ! This one should not discover the time where one is.

Spot It!

Very family game, Spot It! will entertain young and old. Each player has a pile of cards on which different objects are illustrated. The goal ? Get rid of all your cards first. How ? By identifying as quickly as possible the object that is both in his deck and on the middle pile. Harry Potter, The Mandalorianat the beach, camping: there are many versions of this fun card game.
