The island of Sumba in Indonesia is a wild territory, untouched by overtourism. With its white sand beaches and wild horses, it is enchanting.

It is a mystical and captivating island, with its pristine beaches, hit by the waves of the Indian Ocean, its waterfalls hidden in tropical vegetation and its lagoons with turquoise water. Sumba, in Indonesia, a paradise for lovers of wide open spaces or surfers in search of the perfect wave. It is twice the size of its neighbor Bali but it is spared from mass tourism with meager infrastructure and a raw beauty. Few Western tourists go there.

Beautiful water and legendary water. One of the best Indonesian surfers trains there regularly. An amazing island where, just like in the 11th century when the first inhabitants arrived with their horses, you can come across horses on the beach. Enduring, malleable and fast, the Sandalwood horse takes its name from the highly coveted sandalwood that once covered Sumba. Here, the horse is one of the symbols of power and money. There are only 25,000 tourists each year on the island of Sumba.
