Sum 41 cancels its summer concerts in Rimouski, La Baie, Quebec and Victoriaville

Sum 41 has canceled four shows scheduled for Quebec in August due to a back injury suffered by one of its members. The Canadian punk rock band was scheduled to visit the province this summer as part of its farewell tour.

Sum 41 was notably one of the headliners of the Grandes Fêtes TELUS de Rimouski and was to play on the 1er August. The group was then scheduled to go to La Baie on August 7, to the Agora at the port of Quebec on August 8, then to the Rock La Cauze festival in Victoriaville on August 9.

Two other concerts scheduled in Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and Saint John, New Brunswick, have also been cancelled.

“This decision was made with health and safety in mind. We apologize to fans for this unfortunate and unavoidable situation,” the group said in a message shared on social media by the organizers of the Grandes Fêtes TELUS. Sum 41 explained that one of its members suffered a “minor back injury that requires several weeks of rest ordered by a doctor.”

The Rimouski festival then announced that members of Simple Plan will take over on stage on Thursday. The Rock La Cauze festival has not yet announced who will replace Sum 41, but assures that it is “working to find an alternative solution.”

Ticket holders for concerts in Quebec and La Baie will be able to be reimbursed in the coming days.

It was not immediately clear whether the cancelled performances will be rescheduled later in the tour.

The concert scheduled for Place Bell in Laval on January 25, 2025 is still going ahead for the time being, which gives Quebec fans one last chance to see their band play on a local stage.

After 27 years of existence, Sum 41 announced their disbandment in May 2023. The group subsequently embarked on a farewell world tour, which is scheduled to conclude on January 30, 2025 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
