Suffering from breast cancer in 2015, Shannen Doherty never stopped sharing her fight against the disease and revealing each step of her treatment on instagram. If she had managed to take the path of recovery, at first, the 50-year-old star had unfortunately relapsed.
Although it’s not always easy, the actress tries somehow to keep smiling. Besides, if one of her priorities remains to treat herself, she has another objective, which is to prove to Hollywood that people with cancer can work. “The best example I can continue to set for other people with cancer or not, is to show them what a cancer patient looks like. We are employable,” she could express. She went on to say: “Stage 4 cancer doesn’t mean the end of your life. It doesn’t mean you’re not viable in the workplace. It’s quite the opposite.”
While she receives the daily support of hundreds of thousands of people, some critics have descended on her, accusing her of lying about her situation. To respond to bad language, she had published photos of her, her head shaved, with a bloody handkerchief in her nostril, and bedridden. “For this special month, I would like to show you a bit more of my personal journey, from my first diagnosis to my second. Is it pretty? NO, but it’s honest and my hope in sharing is that we let’s all become educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like”she wrote last October.
In his last publication, Friday February 25, the ex-star of Charmed and Beverly Hills shared two photos. A first from one of his eyes and a second from his bandage. Two images accompanied by a short message: “Morning visit from the doctors for scans. Blurred eyes, hair askew but my new bandage made me smile again”, she explained. A ray of sunshine in a cloudy sky that was praised in the comments.
