On Wednesday April 26, 195 French nationals were exfiltrated from Sudan. The country is currently in the throes of a clan war. At Roissy airport, families are relieved.

The happiness of loved ones, reunions, hugs… 195 French nationals were exfiltrated from Khartoum (Sudan), Wednesday, April 26. The Sudanese capital is currently in the throes of a war of leaders. A European Union official arrives with his wife and children. “From one minute to the next, things changed. We heard shooting and directly artillery. In 30 seconds you understand. There, we stayed nine days at home”he explains.

“We saw corpses on the road”

A few minutes earlier, the plane landed at Roissy, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna. It was a high-risk evacuation operation. It was necessary to identify and geolocate the nationals in the city, give them places of assembly, then convey them to the airport, sometimes under the exchange of fire. “During the trip to be evacuated, we saw corpses on the road”, says a woman on the tarmac. The evacuations of French people by air are over, the war, on the other hand, continues.
