‘Succession’ series leads Emmy race with 25 nominations

The drama series Succession from HBO, which follows the throes of a powerful family whose members plot and tear each other apart, arrived at the top of the race for the Emmy awards, the equivalent of the Oscars for American television, on Tuesday, with 25 nominations in total.

She will face in particular the South Korean series Squid GameNetflix’s global success, which went down in history as the first production in a language other than English to compete for Emmy awards in this flagship category.

The competition promises to be tight in view of the trophy presentation on September 12 with heavyweights confirmed as Stranger Things, ozark and Better Call Saul.

Comedy side, Ted Lasso (Apple TV +), winner last year, starts in first place with 20 nominations. The series featuring an American football coach parachuted into an English soccer team will notably face it The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel, barry and hacks.

For miniseries, it’s The White Lotus (HBO), a satire on the hypocrisy and superficiality among wealthy guests of a luxury hotel in Hawaii, which also stands out with 20 nominations.
